FriskyDSP Licenses its LTE L1 Small-Cell Extended Range Solution to Deliver 30 km of Wireless Communications in Rural Areas

Leading embedded software engineering services provider teams up with LatAm’s largest ICT R&D institution to power remote areas nationwide

FriskyDSP Technology Ltd., a leading embedded software engineering services and technology provider, today announced the licensing agreement for its LTE Layer 1 Small-Cell Extended Range solution to one of Latin America’s foremost Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) R&D institutions. The agreement was fueled by a recent government regulation requiring 100% of rural areas up to 30 km from a municipality’s headquarters to be covered by wireless networks by 2017.

This agreement marks an important milestone for FriskyDSP and the growing global interest in the company’s technologies and solutions. Small-cell has the unique advantage of extending broadband coverage to rural areas at significantly lower costs. As part of the agreement, FriskyDSP will deploy its optimized Extended Range LTE L1 libraries and integrate them into the LTE Small-Cell software stack to reach the challenging 30 km coverage target.

Michael Fatiev, FriskyDSP CEO, comments, “We are excited about the opportunity to license our LTE L1 extended range solution to enable much needed wireless broadband technologies in rural Latin America. Being part of a solution to connect these communities defines our company’s objective of helping to bridge
the digital divide.”
